Home renos

After months, and I do mean months, we are finally done with home renovations!

Due to some water damage back in February we found out we had two leaks in our windows. One in the front room of the house and one in the back room of the house. The front room window caused damage to the carpet and because the house was carpeted in one large piece the entire carpet needed to be pulled up. Josh and I figured if we were ripping up the carpet, we might as well lay something we like. This snow balled into a much larger project, which took place after we purchased the home in March.

First the window and leaks had to be repaired and we had exposed frame for several weeks. Once the leaks were taken care of and the dry wall replaced the house was painted. We went from a boring tan color to a light gray with several blue feature walls. In order to prepare for the paint and eventually the floor we basically had to pack up the entire downstairs. It was interesting to say the least. We basically lived in the upstairs for a few months.

Then we had the floors ripped out and the tile removed. We had engineered bamboo floor put in throughout the entire downstairs, up the stairs and in the upstairs hallway.

Once the floors were in we realized that the cabinets just didn't look right with the wall color or the floor, so we painted those white and added hardware.

The biggest change and the longest wait was the new counter tops. We chose a hi-max acrylic top and it was delayed over and over again. We were told it would be installed before the end of August and wasn't actually done until mid September.

Getting everything back into the house and in place was a long process, especially while so pregnant, but fortunately Josh did a lot of the work and we got it all done!

And now I get to enjoy it for a few weeks before we welcome our newest addition!
